This wasn’t a question that we even considered when we were getting married. We knew we wanted a quality photographer, a pretty venue and for Jenn to have a nice dress, but having our wedding day filmed didn’t even cross our minds.
To be fair, when we got married wedding videography was totally different different animal – think cheesey home video.
However, this doesn’t change the fact that not have a wedding video is our BIGGEST regret from our wedding day.
But why? I mean we got photos from the day – that’s good enough, right?
Before we go any further we want to say we are HUGE advocates for wedding photography. We love it and appreciate it!
With this in mind, video tells a story that photography cannot. Don’t get us wrong – photography evokes a lot of emotion, but, video showcases emotion in a way photography cannot. Check out these gorgeous photos our friend Cassidy took at Gil & Kylee’s wedding. You can get a pretty good sense of the emotion during the first look.
But what did they say? What were they feeling? How did they react to each other? Photo and video serve different purposes, they’re different mediums. Photos aren’t ‘good enough’ because they aren’t a video! You can’t hear what was said or experience what happened through a still photograph. Here’s the first look from Gil & Kylee’s wedding that we filmed.
In both of these examples you can see the emotion. You can see the love between Gil and Kylee. You can sense and feel their excitement. But, video has the ability to tell Gil and Kylee’s story in a way that photography simply cannot.
So, do you need a wedding videographer? Yes. Absolutely. And we promise we aren’t saying that just because we are wedding videographers.
A lot goes into planning wedding day. We know. We’ve been there. But, when it’s all said and done don’t you want it to last? Don’t you want not only to remember your day, but also experience the joy, emotion, and uniqueness that is your wedding day? We wish we would have.
